Went it, fits just same as OEM - first 500 miles now and so far so good.
I was quoted over $600 by a local shop just for the parts, so I decided to give these a try. I installed them on my 2015 Chevy last weekend. Everything went perfectly. Highly recommend for any DIYer looking to save money.
As a weekend DIY guy, I decided to tackle replacing the turbo on my 2013 Buick Encore myself. This turbocharger with gasket kit was exactly what I needed. Everything came neatly packed, the machining on the turbo looked top-notch, and all the gaskets were included so I didn’t have to run to the parts store mid-project. Install went smoothly, and the fit was spot-on.
Just finished installing the new turbo. A word of advice - always replace ALL the oil feed and return lines. In my experience, clogged oil lines are usually what kills these turbos.
Here's what I learned during the install:
This job sucks if you've got big hands - tight spaces everywhere.
Found it easier to connect the oil return line to the turbo first, THEN route it to the block.
Critical step: Before final assembly, disconnect the coils and run just the banjo oil feed line by itself. Catch the oil in a cup - you should get about 8oz every 15 seconds. My system was clogged right at the filter area - had to flush it clean. (There are good YouTube videos showing this process better than I can explain.)
So far so good - about 200 miles on it now. Getting some minor surging, but it seems to be improving. The car's got 88k miles, so we'll see how it holds up. I'll update if anything fails, but based on initial results, I'd buy this turbo again.
The old turbo had a cracked housing and a seized wastegate arm,it was completely stuck when inspected after removal. In contrast, the new turbo functions perfectly, with smooth spring-loaded wastegate movement for proper boost control.
2011 Chevy Cruze Eco Just put it on and its like I have a new car again. The car had a horrible idle I received no codes for this failure but it was obviously the problem. It comes with everything you need for the turbo but I would recommend replacing both coolant lines and Oil line while you are there. If one of those are bad you will just be redoing this project. The oil drain is brittle and the feed is known to get plugged. The coolant lines also both had slow leaks.
Replaced cracked TC in 2011 Chev Cruze 1.6L, 185K miles. Do far, 2 months into repair and part is functioning. OEM was well over $750 and we simply needed an alternative to keep repair manageable.
Installed this turbo to replace my old one with a cracked housing. So far, so good - about one week in and it's running well. Made sure to replace both the oil feed and return lines. Fair warning - this isn't a simple job. Even my local garage mechanic thought it was a bit involved. I'll report back after more miles, but initial results are promising.
I was skeptical to begin with about buying aftermarket ... I figured I would take a chance considering the stock turbo failed at 75k.... if that's all I can expect from a car we bought brand new, I figured I didn't have a lot to really risk. So I purchased this and installed it myself. I have had it on the car for a few months now and it seems to be holding up fine. I have traveled out of state a few times and this is a daily driver . All the codes and check engine lights are off. The car has good power and performs nicely. I did purchase the oil feed line at the same time. I am glad that I did some research, as my original line was clogged and wasn't supplying oil to the turbo. So if you have a turbo that needs to be replaced this may be a good option for you .
I bought to replace my turbo boost in my Chevy Cruz. The price was lower that the auto stores around in my area. The mechanic had no issues with the part and I haven't had any issues with the turbo boost since it was replaced
Quality fit ,operated as designed. Always be sure to clean your charge cooler and pipes after a turbo failure otherwise you new turbo will last maybe 5 or 10 minutes.
Bought for my 2018 chevy trax. Factory turbo bit the dust at 85k miles. Just got this new one installed as of yesterday. However car seems to be doing well. To explain my old tubo would work in city however during highway conditions or under load the turbo would begin to seize. When this started to happen I noticed an increase power during city speeds and a reduction of power on highway. After replacing the charged air cooler like dealership advised it still didn't correct and car was getting an underboost condition. However right after installation of this turbo the check engine light for underfoot went away and correct power for both city and highway was observed. Compared to the factory oem turbo this was a near identical part. I am hopeful that this will hold up. If I have any issues as of recent installation will update with more feedback.
